Museums, Libraries, and Archives
Our logo for MAL, representing Museums, Libraries,
and Archives, is a visual celebration of knowledge.
Each letter is meticulously crafted from multiple
interlocking blocks, symbolizing how diverse pieces
of information come together to form a cohesive whole.
Just as our institutions contain and preserve
knowledge, the blocks unite to create the solid,
distinct letters of MAL, reflecting our commitment
to the collective and interconnected nature of learning
and history.

the SOLUTION
The Western Cape Province Museums, Libraries, and Archives (MAL)
seek to transform their web portal into an engaging and interactive
digital hub. This project involves creating a new landing page and
five secondary pages that embody the concept of the Digital MAL- hub
as an exciting and dynamic space.
Exhibition Platform for Museums, Archives and Libraries develop a digital
platform where exhibitions can be showcased virtually, allowing users to
experience and explore museum exhibits and archival collections with more
convenience. Enhanced Visual Presence for MAL Hub establish a strong visual
identity that highlights the unique contributions of the Western Cape museums
and archives. This will include eye-catching design elements that reflect
the history, culture, and diversity of the collections on display.
Currently, the MAL web portal contains a vast amount of information, which
can overwhelm users and make it difficult to find relevant content.
The primary challenge is to organize and categorize this information in a
way that is logical, easily navigable, and visually engaging. This requires
a user-centered design approach that simplifies complex content and encourages
exploration.
The primary users of the platform are museum and library visitors, researchers,
and students who seek access to resources and exhibitions. However, to reach
a broader demographic, the platform should also incorporate design elements that
appeal to younger users, introducing engaging, interactive, and educational features
that will attract a new generation of visitors.
